Brahamotsavm Festival

Brahamotsavm is the biggest festival which is celebrated at the Sri Bhuvaraswami Temple in Tamil Month Chitrai (April- May). A huge crowd of devotee collects at the temple to serve their deity Lord Brahma. Devotees participate in festivities and ceremonies to experience the heavenly feeling and to get blessings from Lord Brahma.

Masi MagamFestivals in Cuddalore

Masi Magam is the biggest and important festival in the town of Cuddalore. It is an annual festival celebrated on the full moon day of Tamil month Masi (February- March). On this day a huge crowd of devotees collected at Penniyar River Bank, where deities from different parts of Cuddalore town and district are brought for the ceremonial processions. Even, devotees take bath in river and sea as they believe that taking a dip into the sea washes away their sins.

Vaikunta Ekadasi

Vaikunta Ekadasi is a festival which is celebrated all over India, including Cuddalore. This festival is celebrated in the Tami month Markazhi. It is the day of worshipping Lord Vishnu by having a day fasting. It is believed that, the “Vaikunta Dwar’ or “the Gate of Lord’s Chamber” is opened and having fast on this very day provides “Moksha” which means getting freedom from differentiated, temporal and mortal world of ordinary experience. On this auspicious day special prayers, pujas and yagnas are organized at the temples to serve the Lord Vishnu.

Fire Walking FestivalFestivals in Cuddalore

Fire walking festival is celebrated in many places in southern part of the country especially in Cuddalore. In Cuddalore hundreds of men and women walk on fire in local temples to fulfil their vows and promises. It is not easy to walk on fire and people put their life at stake just for the fulfilment of their vows.

Annual Summer Festival

The Annual Summer Festival is full of enthusiasm and fun. This festival is organized at Silver Beach in Cuddalore city in the month of May- June. There is scorching heat all over the country during the month of May- June, even though people enjoy this festival in Cuddalore. Various fairs and stalls can be seen on the Silver Beach. During this festival people enjoy beach sports, boating, and riding by taking boats and horses on rent. It is a colourful occasion where a huge crowd can be seen.
