Pichavaram

Pichavaram is a beautiful place of natural beauty located near Cuddalore and it is famous for mangrove forest. There are a lot of mangroves in the region, thus, it is the second largest mangrove forest in the world. Silver Beach

Silver Beach is the most famous place in Cuddalore. It is located in Devanampattinam at the eastern side of Cuddalore and considered as one of the longest beaches in Asia. Sea Port

Sea Port is also known as Cuddalore Port and is the place where Paravanar and Gadilam rivers meet. The cargo is loaded and unloaded on ships on this port. Numerous oil crushing mills are located on this port. The land at this port is rich in minerals.

Fort St. David

It is one of the oldest forts in the country which is located in the town of Cuddalore. It was British Fort as it was bought from Marathas by British East India Company in 1690. Then in 1746 it became British Headquarters in Southern India. While you visit this fort you can the ruins of the fort.

Veeratteswarar Temple

Veeratteswarar Temple is one of the famous temples in Cuddalore. It is the temple of Lord Shiva and it is located on the banks of river Gadilam. This temple has idols of Goddess Periyanayaki and Lord Arulmigu Veeratteswarar (Lord Shiva). The flock of pilgrims come to this temple to serve their deity.

Padaleeswarar Temple

Padaleeswarar Temple, the famous Lord Shiva temple located in the town of Cuddalore. Lord Shiva was named as Padaleeswarar. It is one of the oldest temples, which was built during medieval Cholas and Pallavas periods. How to Reach Cuddalore

You can reach Cuddalore by road and train, as there is no airport in the town.

By Road: Cuddalore is located on NH 45A, thus, travelling to this town by road is the best option. There are frequent private and state buses available to Cuddalore from nearby cities and towns such as Chennai, Trichy, Salem, Tiruvannamalai, Pondicherry, Coimbatore, Madurai, Palani and Hosur. TNSTC operates regular short and long distance buses from Cuddalore to other nearby cities and states and makes your journey easy and convenient. You can also travel by cars and taxis to Cuddalore.

By Train: Cuddalore has two active railway stations, namely, Cuddalore Port Junction and Tiruppadirippuliyur. These two stations serve with regular passenger and express trains to various cities such as Chennai, Madurai, Rameshwaram, Tirupati, Tiruchirappalli, Pondicherry, Mumbai, Bangalore, Villupuram, Vridachalam, Bhubaneswar and so on.

By Air: Cuddalore doesn’t have its own official airport. The nearest airport is located in Pudducherry about 25km away from Cuddalore and international airport is located in Chennai which is about 200km away from the town.
